Friday Night Tasting: Rioja - Spain

  • World Class Wines 149 A Avenue Lake Oswego, OR, 97034 United States (map)

Rioja, located south of the Cantabria mountains in north-central Spain, is the country’s best known and most historic wine region. The emphasis in Rioja is squarely on Tempranillo, although GarnachaGraciano and Mazuelo are also grown and frequently blended. As for whites, Viura yields a zippy, crisp style with apple and green melon characteristics.

This week's Friday Night Tasting we'll take you through eight Riojas, all with their own stylistic differences. Four producers have been carefully selected to highlight the differing styles one can expect from this noteworthy region. We can't wait to share!

Here's a look at whats being poured:

2016 Solar de Randez Rioja Blanco

2016 Luis Cañas Rioja Blanco
